Chikungunya- a viral disease reported in Samtse

Chikungunya, a viral disease has been reported in the areas bordering Samtse. The disease is transmitted through mosquito bites that transmit dengue.

Out of three blood samples collected in Samtse, one tested positive for Chikungunya. Health Ministry is urging people to visit nearest health centres if they develop the symptoms of the disease.

The symptoms are fever, severe joint pain, headache, muscle pain, nausea, fatigue and rash.

The health officials are advising people to wear clothes with full sleeves and to use mosquito nets, insect repellants.

People are advised not to allow water to stagnate in the surroundings.
