A family in Nyimzhong village under Korphu Gewog in Trongsa lost almost an acre of paddy to a landslide yesterday.
According to local officials, 14 terraces of paddy were buried under the debris from the slides at about 4 PM yesterday. Officials say the landslide occurred unexpectedly even though the gewog has not received rainfall for almost a week. The cause and damages would be assessed tomorrow. The Dzongkhag disaster office was informed.
The affected family cultivated paddy on this land for almost five decades.
