The Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating an alleged embezzlement case involving the Dangchhu Gup of Wangdue Phodrang. According to sources, the Gup allegedly misappropriated funds from the construction of Saphagang Lhakhang in the gewog. Sources say the gewog administration funded about Nu 1.5 M and collected contributions worth more than Nu 2 M.

One of his relatives is said to have carried out the construction. Sources say the gup is also being investigated for other cases including the construction of a hot stone bath at Dangchu Wangchhu, construction of an archery range, alleged embezzlement of fund collected from the auction of cordyceps, and suspected fraudulent of document while issuing firewood permit.

The gup said he has no comments.
