Jomotshangkha town and Lauri Gewog in Samdrup Jongkhar are under complete lockdown following the detection of eight positive cases from the Dungkhag, today. All of them are primary contacts of one of the cases detected on May 19 from Merag Gewog.

A person tested positive from Phajo Gonpa, a remote village in Lauri gewog and another from Jomotshangkha town. Six more cases were detected from the RBA cantonment. They were all confirmed positive for COVID-19 earlier today. According to sources, they have visited Khashateng chiwog under Merag Gewog recently and had contact with one of the cases detected earlier. Khashateng chiwog is two hours walk from Lauri Gewog centre.

Meanwhile, more than 4,000 individuals have been tested during the second round of mass screening in Samdrup Jongkhar town in four days. Seven individuals were found to be infected with the virus. They are all in isolation.

Currently, Samdrup Jongkhar town is under complete lockdown. However, identified shops deliver essentials items to the residents.
