A 51-year-old man is in custody for allegedly conspiring to murder a man. Paro police arrested the man after the alleged victim and his father reported the conspiracy to the police on Thursday. Police upon preliminary investigation arrested the suspect. The suspect and the 36-year-old supposed victim are both from Doteng Gewog in Paro and are neighbours.

According to a source, the suspect allegedly hired three young men in their early 20s to commit the crime on Tuesday promising to pay Nu 30,000. The source said the men recorded every conversation while planning to execute the crime. But later one of the men withdrew from partaking in the crime.

The father said his son was called to Paro town by two men citing some issues on Thursday. He said both of them went to town sensing something suspicious. According to him, the two men were quarrelling with the suspect over a phone when they reached town. Taking advantage of the tense situation, the father said, they interrogated the two men and acquired the evidence of the alleged conspiracy.

According to the father, his son and the suspect had a misunderstanding over the right of way while driving, which ended in a fistfight sometime last year.

The Police are investigating the case. Meanwhile, the two men are not arrested as they had revealed the conspiracy. Sources say the men didn’t know either of the parties.
