In addition to the two artists from the Royal Academy of Performing Arts (RAPA), 13 more artists of RAPA tested positive for COVID-19, today, from the Prime Minister’s entourage to Bangladesh. The routine test for the delegates was conducted yesterday.

There were 22 artists from the RAPA in the delegation. All the delegates were in quarantine facilities in Thimphu.

According to sources, the cultural troupe from RAPA and the rest of the entourage did not interact during the tour. They were also kept in different hotels. Moreover, the troupe returned to the country three days later.

Meanwhile, as per the Bhutanese embassy in Bangladesh, the two artists who tested positive are recovering well. They will be moved from the hospital to the embassy’s guest house soon. They were detected with the virus on 24th and 25th March. Sources say they might have contracted COVID-19 during their rehearsals at the National Parade ground in Dhaka. The entire entourage members were tested for COVID-19 before leaving for Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister and his close aides were also retested today. The results came negative.

The Prime Minister and the team visited Bangladesh last month to attend the golden jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh and the birth centenary of the nation’s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
