The former Phuentshogling Thrompon, Uttar Kumar Rai, wins by a single vote from his demkhong to contest for the thromde elections. He secured 33 votes while Tashi Wangchuk secured 32 votes from Neydrag constituency, today.

The Dhamngoi Zomdu for thromde elections started with Neydrag Demkhong today. Of the 84 eligible voters, 65 have turned up. Uttar Kumar Rai took Thrompon’s seat by nine yes votes in 2016. He was the lone candidate then. This time, seven contestants are participating from six constituencies. Dhamngoi Zomdu for the remaining demkhongs will be carried out in the following days.

Water scarcity, housing crunch and public transport system are some of the pertinent issues people expect the elected Thrompon to work upon. There are over 900 eligible voters under Phuentshogling Thromde.
