Bhutan reports its first death due to COVID-19

Bhutan reported its first death due to the COVID-19 on 7th January 2021. A 34-year-old COVID-19 patient with pre-existing medical conditions died at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH). He was admitted to the COVID-19 ward. 

The man tested positive for COVID-19 on 21st December 2020 at the hospital where he was admitted for severe acute hepatitis. The deceased also reportedly had pre-existing medical conditions such as chronic liver disease and kidney failure. He also received hemodialysis for acute kidney failure.

As per the treating physician, such a medical condition has grave scope for recovery.
