For the security personnel stationed across the outposts and border of Samtse, Nyilo turned out to be a good treat. All for the kindness of a Samaritan from Yeoseltse Gewog, they had all the reasons to rejoice and smile, despite being far from home.

Pradeep Subba, 39, went around the border outposts in Ugyentse, Yoeseltse, and Sang-Ngag-Chhoeling Gewogs, yesterday. Assisted by the gewog utility vehicle, he distributed 50 kilograms of pork and local rice. He also had eggs, spinach, juice, and doma in his surprise baskets for the nine outposts.

Pradeep, in a phone interview, said it has been so long the security personnel have been manning the borders and he hasn’t been able to do anything. He added that Nyilo was a good opportunity to give back to them.

”They are far from family, so I decided to offer them some meat and vegetable. I hope this gives them a bit of joy,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, duty personnel across all points of entries in Samtse celebrated Nyilo as well.
