MoWHS launches Engineering Council of Bhutan

All the engineering professionals in the country will now have to register with the Engineering Council of Bhutan from 17th of this month. The Ministry of Works and Human Settlement (MoWHS) launched the Engineering Council of Bhutan, today. The council will certify and ensure the competency of individuals, and regulate professional ethics and conduct of the registered professionals and facilitate the growth of the profession through continuous assessment.

With registration based on their professional development in accordance with the code of ethics, engineers will get the opportunity to get certified recognition of competency. This will ensure them to boost their confidence and enhance professionalism.

“We are very happy to have achieved this milestone to launch the Engineering Council of Bhutan which will benefit the engineering fraternity and as a whole to the construction industry in the country. After general registration is done, we are also looking forward to doing the listing which will lead us to the formation of committees and sub-committees. The committees and sub-committees will enable us to the certification of the engineering professionals for them to practice,’’ said DechenNorbu, the Chief Engineer with the Department of Engineering Services at the M0WHS.

And during the launch, the MoWHS Minister pointed out the importance and the responsibilities of the engineering professionals towards achieving socio-economic development of the country.

“The Engineering Council of Bhutan is the platform for all the engineering professionals of Bhutan to come together, think alike and work together as one team,’’ Lyonpo said.

The engineering professionals including engineers, planners, architects and professional alike across the country will be able to professionally develop their career prospect through continuous knowledge and skills sharing resources provided by the Engineering Council of Bhutan.
