Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa declared its candidate for Chhoekhor_Tang constituency in Bumthang for the bye-election today. The constituency was vacant after the former opposition leader and member of parliament of Chhoekhor_Tang constituency resigned earlier last month.
42-year-old Dawa from Tang Gewog in Bumthang is the new candidate. He has 13 years of work experience as a journalist in Bhutan Broadcasting Service. Dawa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Sherubtse College.
During the candidate declaration today, cabinet ministers, members of the parliament and party members were also present.
The former Opposition Leader from the Chhoekhor_Tang constituency resigned on 7th September. According to the Election Act, a bye-election for filling any vacancy to Parliament shall be held within a period of 90 days from the date of the occurrence of the vacancy.
