To enhance leadership and management competency among the senior civil servants, over a thousand senior civil servants have now access to ‘Mind Tools’. Launched today, ‘Mind Tools’ is an online learning platform which facilitates participants to assess themselves through various courses, provide book reviews, webinars and expert coaching on leadership and management among others.

Civil servants from grades ranging from P2 to executives, dzongdags and key staff from the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies and Royal Institute of Management were granted access to ‘Mind Tools’ for a year today. As an individual learning-based platform, the senior civil servants now have access to many articles, books, podcasts, audio recordings and courses related to leadership and management development to get ahead in their careers.

“Leadership is critical for organizational performance and therefore we would like to enhance the leadership and management capability development initiatives taken by the government,” said Dhanapati Mishra, a Commissioner for the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC).

According to the RCSC, leadership and management competencies are critical in the public service sector as they influence motivation and job performance of civil servants which in turn impact the overall performance of the government. As part of the RCSC’s mandates, ‘Mind Tools’ will grant access to many leadership-related resources from books to podcasts and online tests to assess oneself.

”’Mind tools’, we can take it as an open library which is very focused towards leadership management and development. Once you are in this program, it can do many things. It can customise your own learning, you can decide what sort of courses you want to take, you can read on the latest books, you can listen to the articles, and you can test your skills,” he added.

‘Mind Tools’, a Web and Application based platform was bought from ‘Emerald Group Publishing’ for a subscription of a year. The RCSC believes that such an avenue will help promote a culture where civil servants take personal initiatives for continuous learning, development and personal growth.
