Following the detection of a positive case outside of quarantine facility on August 10 in Gelegphu, 400 contacts of the index patient were traced. 103 primary contacts were tested and both the rapid and RT-PCR tests came in negative. Currently, 88 of the primary contacts are in facility quarantine and 15 are under home quarantine.

297 secondary contacts, a majority of them from the 27-year-old woman’s village in Serzhong were tested using rapid antibody tests, all tested negative.

There are currently two patients in the Gelegphu isolation centre including the recent positive patient. According to medical officials, both are said to be in stable condition and asymptomatic.

The first patient is a 25-year-old woman who had returned from Mumbai, India on July 10 and was admitted to the isolation centre on July 12, after testing positive for the virus while she was under quarantine. The woman has been in the isolation centre for over a month and although she remains asymptomatic, she continues to test positive.

Meanwhile, Health officials are carrying out random rapid tests of individuals from each household in Serzhong Gewog to rule out community transmission. The results are expected later in the evening.
