Phuentshogling Thromde demolished a fifty-year-old automobile workshop in the heart of the town. According to the Thromde, the workshop was constructed on government land.
Since 1970, Wangdi workshop had occupied the space and encroached nearly 35 decimals of government land. Thromde said for the past fifty years the owners had not paid any form of taxes as well.
The workshop was demolished yesterday after the owners were notified six times by the Thromde.
Thromde said a satellite clinic would be constructed at the site.
Thrompon Uttar Kumar Rai said, “The clinic will not only benefit residents of Phuentshogling but also render services to the people coming from outside. Currently, Phuentshogling general hospital is in short of human resources and facilities because of lack of space.”
The Asian Development Bank is providing a fund of Nu 14M for the construction of the satellite clinic.
