The people of Khawajara-Tsephu Chiwog in Toedwang Gewog in Punakha growing small chilies have two reasons to celebrate this year- bountiful harvest and good price.

Encouraged by the successful season so far, many farmers are planning to grow more next year.

Meanwhile, the Gewog Agriculture Extension officer said they have plans to extend the production area and provide hybrid seeds for better production.

As per the records maintained at the Gewog Agriculture Extension office, more than five metric tons have already sold so far and harvest is expected to continue throughout this month. More than eight metric tons of small local chilies were sold last year.
