With Bajo Town in Wandue Phodrang now under full close circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, the town is expected to become safer for the public.

Although a small town, an increasing number of crime and traffic violations have been reported due to the growing population in the town. To combat this, the CCTV monitoring system was launched recently.

The Wangdue Phodrang Dzongdag, Sonam Jamtsho said that while CCTV cameras may not eliminate crime in the town, it was expected to reduce the crime rate significantly.

The CCTV installation work was carried out with a budget of Nu 4.6M. There are around 9000 people living in Bajo town.
