The Indian town of Nagrakata under Jalpaiguri district, which is 30 kilometres from Samtse en route to Siliguri, detected 10 more COVID-19 positive cases yesterday. They were all detected while in quarantine.
According to sources, all infected are reportedly migrant workers who were returning home from the Indian states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and other states. Including the 10, the town now has 27 Coronavirus cases, of which five were declared recovered.
Meanwhile, with 10,956 new cases in 24 hours, India surpasses the UK’s COVID-19 caseload to become the fourth worst-hit nation by COVID-19. India has now 297,535 COVID-19 cases with 8,498 individuals succumbing to the virus. However, the recovery rate in India is closing to 50 per cent with 147,195 patients having recovered which is more than the total number of active cases.
