With the three men testing positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the cumulative total of positive cases in the country now reaches 62. All are returnees from the Middle East and were under the facility quarantine in Thimphu.

They were moved to the isolation facility today.

And with one individual declared recovered yesterday, 16 Bhutanese individuals in the country, excluding the two foreigners who have recovered and already migrated, have successfully recovered after completing the two week de-isolation period and testing negative on RT-PCR. Similarly, two more individuals were moved to the de-isolation facility from the isolation ward yesterday.

And with the recent detection of COVID-19 cases in neighbouring towns in the south, the Health Ministry urges Bhutanese living in the southern border towns to strictly practice effective social distancing, maintain good personal hygiene and practise proper cough etiquette.

For now, West Bengal alone has nearly 9000 COVID-19 cases with nearly 400 new cases detected in the past 24 hours. Likewise, Assam has over 3200 cases so far. Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are with 57 and 13 COVID-19 cases respectively.

Meanwhile, detecting 9,985 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, India’s coronavirus tally soared to over 276,000 infections across the country. Of the total cases, over 135,000 people have recovered and nearly 134,000 individuals are currently being treated.
