Creating a tobacco free Bhutan, everyone’s responsibility

Bhutan banned the sale of tobacco and related products some 16 years ago. Much is achieved since then and much more needs to be done. Today, smoking in public is apparently a taboo but a thriving black market, a stark reality.

As the country observed the World No Tobacco Day yesterday, it looked back at the bold move of August 2004 and amid challenges aplenty, is more prepared to bounce back stronger.
