A ten-year-old boy went missing while swimming in the Mao River in Gelegphu yesterday. The missing boy is a class 3 student in one of the schools in Gelegphu.

According to sources, the missing boy along with his elder brother left for swimming in the Mao River at around 2.30 in the afternoon. The elder brother did not swim but was at the banks playing with his mobile phone while his sibling was swimming. Sometime during the game when he looked for his smaller brother, he could not find him.

The incident took place at around 3.30 pm. The parents of the missing boy lodge a complaint with the Gelegphu police thereof and the search for the missing boy was started. The search was continued today from early hours by diverting the river course at the swimming spot.

Police, Army, Desuups, teachers, and Red Cross volunteers started searching till dusk but could not find any trace of the missing boy today. The search will again resume tomorrow.
