Dorji Lopen appoints Lam of the National Memorial Chorten

The Dorji Lopen conferred Khadar to the newly appointed Lam of the National Memorial Chorten at the Punakha Dzong yesterday. 43-year-old Sonam Dorji from Wangdue Phodrang is the new Lam of the National Memorial Chorten in Thimphu.

Prior to his current appointment, Lam Sonam Dorji served as the vice principal of Dechen Phodrang Monastic School.

The Dorji Lopen also awarded Toe-Tse Jim to three principals: 44-year-old Lopen Sangay Dorji from Chhukha, the principal of Ngoedrup monastic school, 40-year-old Lopen Namgay Tenzin from Haa, the principal of Phajoding monastic school, and 40-year-old Lopen Chhimi Nidup from Dagana, the principal of Samten Choling monastic school.
