Ministry of Labour and Human Resources is sending its final batch of 13 instructors to upgrade their qualification this month to Nepal. With this, the ministry says it has achieved its target to upgrade qualifications of all the instructors from certificate to diploma level in various technical fields.

The ministry is mandated to provide 30,000 employment opportunities through quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training or TVET within the 10th Five Year Plan. However, according to the ministry, the main hindrance towards achieving this mandate is lack of qualified instructors. Therefore, the instructors qualification up-gradation programme was initiated in 2009.

“Skilled workforce is critical for both driving and sustaining economic growth,” said the Minister of Labour and Human Resources, Dorji Wangdi.

The ministry has sent its instructors in batches to be upgraded from certificate level to Diploma level in various technical educations in Nepal.

A total of 24 instructors have completed the programme as of April this year.

Currently, the Technical Training Institutes offer courses in civil engineering, electrical and automobile engineering at various National Certificate Levels. The programme was initiated to enhance quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the country and to address various instructor related issues that the ministry is facing.
