It has been about two weeks since the Gelegphu Thromde cut off its services such as water and electricity supply for nine automobile workshops in Jampeling constituency. The owners of these workshops failed to relocate their business to the thromde’s new industrial service centre within the given deadline.

The automobile workshops located next to the border gate were supposed to shift to the new industrial service centre in Tashiling constituency by March this year. But since the constructions of structures at the site were not complete, the deadline was extended till September.

“There was, first of all, complain from workshop owners who have already shifted as customers still visit the old site and don’t come to the new location. That’s the first thing we look into and other was our own administrative plan. By this time they need to shift up there because lap VI is ready for demarcation and we have already requested NLCS for surveyor and peg will be fixed,” said Tikaram Kafley, the Gelegphu Thromde Thrompon.

Along with the automobile workshops, a fuel station was also supposed to move to the new location. However, for now, the Thromde has considered its case and the service lines will be provided till the 15th of next month. The Regional Trade and Industry office in Gelegphu put up this request. They said cutting off the service lines for the station will affect the general public.

Meanwhile, the automobile workshop owners are also speeding up their construction works at the industrial service centre. A few of them whose buildings are almost complete have started moving in. They were allotted with the plots in 2017.
