Following reports on the contamination of some ranitidine medicinal products in the international media, the Drug Regulatory Authority (DRA) in the country has temporarily suspended the import, sale and use of all Ranitidine products until the confirmation of the test reports or further notice.
As a precautionary measure, the DRA has notified hospitals, clinics and private pharmacies to immediately stop prescribing and dispensing ranitidine. Ranitidine is a medication which decreases stomach acid production. It is commonly used to treat stomach and intestines ulcers.
