During a press conference today, Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering thanked everyone involved in making Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit a success.

Lyonchen said that during the visit the two Prime Ministers had good conversation and brought in good results.

For making Indian Prime Minister visit a successful one, Lyonchen Dr Lotay Tshering thanked the people involved in preparing the visit and locals for adhering to traffic restrictions accordingly.

“All the officers, individuals and agencies who are involved in the forefront did their job well but from behind the scene Bhutanese people especially people of Paro and Thimphu took all the trouble to make this thing happen. Teachers and Students came out to help us and greet Prime Minister Modi. And our local deities did their job by holding rain and giving us very favourable weather. And today afternoon, with the lunch hosted by His Majesty The King, was even more exceptional,” said Dr Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan.

Despite many Memorandum of Understanding signed and inaugurations of 720 MW Mangdechhu Hydroelectric project, South Asia Satellite and RuPay Card, Prime Minister said there was no extra dialogue on hydropower projects in Bhutan.

“Indo-Bhutan relationship has been happening for many decades and hydropower is just one of the events in this relationship. So, we didn’t have any extra talk, extra dialogue on hydropower. Every activity on hydropower was ongoing, the major projects are ongoing which we committed to bringing to a conclusion as soon as possible. Then a newer one that we have been talking is Sunkosh which is also very positive from both the governments. The experts from both sides are working on it. So we have not discussed anything new. We haven’t taken any new stands on hydropower this time,” Lyonchhen added.

The Indian Prime Minister was on a two-day state visit to Bhutan. Prime Minister Modi left today.
