His Holiness appoints new principal, lam and khenpo

His Holiness the Je Khenpo awarded Tashi Lekdhar to the newly appointed Principal of Dodeydra Shedra, Kuenselphodrang Lam and Khenpo of Darjeeling Shedra at Tashichhodzong, this morning.

40-year- old Sonam Tobgay from Shar in Wangdue Phodrang is the new principal of Dodeydra Shedra in Thimphu. He started his monastic education at Dechenphodrang Monastic School and graduated from Tango Buddhist University. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the headteacher of Dodeydra Shedra.

The first Lam for Kuenselphodrang is 36-year- old Gyaltshen from Chabrimtekha in Chhukha. He started his monastic education at the age of seven at Dechenphodrang Monastic School and later graduated from Tango Buddhist University. He served as a teacher in a monastic school at Dongkala in Paro.

35-year-old Lopen Ngawang Kinley from Kabesa in Thimphu is the new Khenpo for Darjeeling Shedra in India. He has monastic education from Darjeeling, Dodeydra Shedra and Tango Buddhist University. Prior to this current appointment, he served as a teacher in Dodeydra Shedra.

All the three new appointees completed three years retreat in various retreat centres in Thimphu.
