A Class X student from one of the schools in Gelegphu who went missing on 1st of this month from Datgari market, in the Indian bordering town, was back home yesterday evening.
According to a source, the student set off for Datgari market for purchasing school stationeries after the school and didn’t return home that night. The parents informed police of their missing son the very next day. After 3 days, he was found in Kokrajhar, Assam by a Bhutanese trucker.
Kokrajhar is about 70 km from Datgari. How the boy got there is a mystery for now since the parents denied permission to ask him the details.
According to the truck driver, who was in Kokrajhar to reach stone chips consignment from Gelegphu, the boy came to him in the early morning at around 7 am yesterday asking for a lift to Gelegphu while he was still sleeping in his truck. Recognizing him as the missing boy from a social media post, the driver instantly agreed and shared the encounter on social media to alert the parents who were worried. He handed over the boy to the parents after reaching Gelegphu.
Gelegphu Police are investigating the case.
