HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck graces the 12th batch of Scout Leadership Training

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck graced the opening ceremony of 12th batch Scout Leadership Training at the Military Training Centre in Wangdue Phodrang yesterday.

125 students comprising of 60 boys and 63 girls are participating in the three-week training. The participants are all class twelve students.

The top 5 outstanding scouts will be awarded Scout Scholarship to study abroad as Soelra from His Majesty The King. The scholarships will be based on the merits acquired during Leadership Training and Board Exams (50% from the Leadership Training and 50% from the Board Exam results ). All Scouts taking part in the Training are expected to perform well and demonstrate skills and values of desired nature. The awardees are expected to be exemplary and outperform in many aspects of their daily chores with refined integrity and conducts.

More than a thousand youth are trained in Scout Leadership from the military training centre since December 2013 as per the Royal Command. The training is being conducted for physical and personal development and also to develop the intellectual power. Likewise, to learn and develop social services, volunteerism and civic responsibilities among the youth.
