The road widening between Tshelingkhor and Wamrong will take another two years to complete. This was informed by the Works and Human Settlement minister while responding to Trashigang MP’s query on road widening update of Samdrup Jongkhar to Trashigang Highway.

The Minister during the question hour session in the National Council yesterday said that labour shortage and limited budget were the reason for the delay. He said, actually DANTAK officials said it will take three years to complete the widening work between Tshelingghor and Wamrong but upon governments request they agreed to complete within two years.

“The main problem is with regard to the 25 km road between Tshelinggor and Wamrong. This is due to the budget which will only be released in the fiscal year 2019-2020 from the Government of India. So they have prepared Detailed Project Report and within two months they said they will work on road widening,” Dorji Tshering, Minister for Work and Human Settlement, said.

The minister also said that in order to complete the work on time, the ministry will involve some Bhutanese contractors for the blacktopping of twenty-five km stretch road between Wamrong and Tshelingkhor
