A flash flood damaged the gewog centre road, farm road, irrigational canal, drinking water supply and a bridge in Zawa-Jarogang Chiwog in Wangdue Phodrang on the night of May 27.

The cause of the flood is unknown, but according to the chiwog Tshogpa, it could have been due to rainfall at the source of the Phangdu Rongchhu, a small stream, which triggered the flash flood.

The Gewog Administration is currently carrying out works to provide a temporary irrigational water supply for 26 affected households.

Meanwhile, the Gewog Administration is assessing the extent of the damage and the report will be submitted to the Dzongkhag.
