Tsirang Police forwarded a case of alleged unnatural sex leading to the death of a woman and failure to report a crime, to Tsirang district court on 24th May, 2019.

The report states that on the night of 19th April, 27 years old man from Mendrelgang and 41 years old woman from Padtshaling Gewog had spent the night together. The next day the woman was found dead in the bed.

Although the sex was consensual, but during the course, the victim complained about pain while indulging in unnatural sex. The police suspect that the victim succumbed to the pain. During the incident, a 37 years old woman from the same village was also present. She is also under the custody, which she was charged for not reporting the crime. The suspect will be charged for failing to report a crime and offence of unnatural sex. The Penal Code of Bhutan in its Article 213 states “A defendant shall be guilty of the offence of unnatural sex, if the defendant engages on sodomy or any other sexual conduct that is against the order of nature.”
