Sarpang District Court sentenced a 35-year-old man to 15 years in prison for statutory rape. The Judgement was passed on March 26.
According to the judgment, the convict had raped his 11-year-old stepdaughter in September last year in their village.
The case came to the limelight when the school authority found her depressed in the school.
The judgment states that the convict raped the girl while she was herding the cattle.
