Sudden darkness engulfed Samtse town area this morning. From 9.30 for about an hour residents were forced to switch on lights and vehicle drivers had to use headlights.

According to the National Center of Hydrology and Meteorology, a low-pressure system developed over northern India which led to the formation of dense convective clouds.

The clouds moved over the country causing darkness. The dark clouds were also accompanied by heavy rainfall and storm in Samtse.

Most parts of the country experienced a similar weather pattern.

The weather is likely to improve from Thursday.
