His Royal Highness the Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck graced the consecration ceremony of the Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag court today. The consecration ceremony is presided over by Gyalse Trulku Jigme Tenzin Wangpo.
Until now, the court has been functioning from the dzong sharing space with dzongkhag administration. The court building, which is a blend of modern and traditional architecture, is resilient to the earthquake.
The new court has separate detention and restrooms for male, female and children. Besides other infrastructures, bench clerks will also have adequate working space.
It was constructed at a cost of over Nu 29 M with funds from Austrian Development Cooperation.
The Dzongkhag court was established in 1991.
