A land measuring 3.4 acres at Shetikahri near the Shivalaya Mandir in Gelegphu will be developed into a Moenlam Thang or ground.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo conducted the ground breaking ceremony for the work on Saturday.

The ground will be used for conducting religious and spiritual gatherings including Moenlam Chenmo.

The site is only about four kilometres away from Gelegphu town.

Following the ground breaking ceremony, His Holiness visited the Shivalaya Mandir.

The mandir was a gift from His Majesty The King to the Hindu community in Sarpang. The construction of the mandir began in July 2016 and was completed in May this year.

Meanwhile, preparations are going on in full swing for the upcoming month-long Wang Lung in Gelegphu.

The football ground is being prepared for the prayer ceremony. Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche will preside over the ceremony, which begins on January 1.
