Punakha District Court has sentenced a 48-year-old man to six years in prison for illicit trafficking of cannabis and its derivatives.
The court passed the judgement yesterday.
The man from Thinleygang of Toepaisa Gewog, Punakha is being jailed for possessing more than one hundred grams of marijuana hashish.
The convict’s 40-year-old wife has been imposed a fine of Nu 11,250 for failing to report the crime.
Punakha Police arrested the couple from Thinleygang in August this year. The police forwarded the case to the court in September.
