The President of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) Lotay Tshering promised to appoint two of its three candidates from Pema Gatshel as ministers if they win.

He was speaking at a meeting with the people of Shumar Gewog yesterday.

He said the party has also decided to give the post of the speaker to its third candidate from the dzongkhag.

Though all three candidates are capable, the DNT president said they can give ministerial posts to only two of them because as per the constitution, only two members elected from the electoral constituencies of the same dzongkhag shall be entitled to be appointed as ministers.

The party’s candidate from Nanong_Shumar Constituency is Pema Wangda and from Khar_Yurung is Ugyen Tshewang.

“Both are former government secretaries and they choose DNT. If they win, we will have to offer them ministerial posts.”

From Nanglam, DNT’s candidate is Karma Dorji.

“He is one of the founders of our party and he will have a say in deciding the cabinet,” Lotay Tshering said.

He added if DNT comes to power, a surgeon and a gynaecologist will be placed in the dzongkhag hospital by the beginning of next year.
