Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) launched their campaign for the General Round of Third National Assembly Election 2018 in presence of the Bhutanese Media in Thimphu today.

Speaking to the media, the DNT President Lotay Tshering, said they will focus more on gaining support from east constituencies.

“Our party will spend more of the campaign period in east for the larger interest of the people and the nation,” DNT President said.

He added: “The party sees the need to have representation from all the regions, if it is to win. Also, DNT has potential candidates especially from the eastern regions to become ministers if the party forms the government.”

Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa will start campaigning for the general round either from Nganglam constituency in Pema Gatshel or Bartsham-Shongphu constituency in Trashigang.

The founders of the party- Karma Dorji  and Tenzin Lekphell are from these two constituencies.

The party also shares that it has given priority to south-eastern districts as the recent population and housing census places these regions at the bottom five of the highest poverty prevalence in the country.

With the goal of narrowing the gap, DNT aims to eradicate poverty in these districts. The party won the primaries, garnering highest number of votes at 92, 722.
