One might have heard about conman. But have you heard a woman conning people? Recently, a 27-year-old woman was apprehended by Thimphu Police for conning people. She was arrested on Saturday from the taxi parking.

In the latest incident, a private employee was conned. The victim told police that the suspect followed her and asked for some cash changes after she came out of the bank. The victim agreed and walked towards the town to exchange the cash. While walking on the way, the two counted the cash of Nu. 50,000. The suspect then pretended of placing back the cash, which she never did.

After reaching a shop in the town, the woman asked the victim to wait for her, assuring her with her hand bag and purse. The woman never returned.

Police caught her near the taxi parking when she was about to leave for Phuentsholing. While interrogating, police did not find any cash with her. Later the cash was found from the diapers of the five-month old baby she was carrying.

Similarly, a case was registered with the police in December last year by another woman who was conned in front of the Bank of Bhutan. The technique used by the con master was the same. The victim then was conned of Nu. 30,000.

The detainee from Tendu in Samtse confessed to the crime.
