The Purjang (cremation) ceremony of the late Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche’s Kudung will be held tomorrow at Dagophu Goenpa under Lango Gewog, Paro. Dagophu Goenpa is around three kilometres uphill climb from Lango town along a narrow road.

Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, a great teacher of Buddhism and a primary holder of the Düdjom Tersar lineage, passed away on 27th December last year in California, USA.

Rinpoche’s Kudung arrived in Bhutan on February 1 this year. The Purjang prayers will be presided over by His Eminence Düdjom Yangsey, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche and Garab Rinpoche.

Hundreds of devotees including devotees from abroad are coming to pay their respects and prayers.

The organiser of the Purjang Ceremony says measures have been taken to avoid traffic congestion tomorrow.

Dungse Rinpoche was born in 1931 in Kongpo, Tibet to His Holiness Düdjom Jigdral Yeshe Dorji and Sangyum Kusho Tseten Yudron. He first came to Bhutan in 1958 upon the invitation of Lam Sonam Zangpo to preside over Terser Wang at Khenpa Jong in Lhuentse.
