A Jangchub Chorten at Rangthang-bra under Chhaling Gewog in Monggar was vandalised and robbed on Sunday night. According to Chhaling Gup,Tandin Tshewang, villagers went to put out a forest fire in the Gewog on that same day. He said the culprits might have taken advantage ofthe situation and vandalised the Chorten.

The robbery was reported to the Gup by a villager who saw the Chorten vandalised while on their way to Monggar town. Two mud statues were recovered from the area nearby.

The Jangchub Chorten is more than 30 years old. Chhaling Gewog in Monggar has more than 100 Chortens, but unfortunately, half of them have been vandalised.
