Lhuentse town will very soon have a new Thromde Ngotshab. Its residents can go to for any problem they face. At present, sufficient drinking water and proper roads are on the top of on their minds.
Perched on a mountain slope, the town of Lhuentse or Phaling town as it is called, has been growing, albeit slowly. The first modern building in the town was constructed in 2013 and today, there are around 20 such buildings.
With the LG poll day just around the corner, people say they are hopeful the new Thromde Ngotshab will solve their drinking water crisis as well as improve the poor condition of the town roads.
“The first biggest problem here is water. We don’t get sufficient drinking water” said Pema Wangmo. “Then the second problem is with the roads. We don’t have a problem with whoever gets elected.”
Another resident Nidup Dorji said, “the town has remained like this with all these problems. We are hopeful whoever gets elected will solve them.”
“We have water crisis here. Then the other thing is we our roads to be maintained and blacktopped” said Tshewang Dargay.
Another problem that needs immediate attention is the drains along the vegetable market road. People say, on rainy monsoon days, the drainage overflows onto the road and then towards the houses located below the road.
Samten Jangchuk Singye and Sonam Wangdi are the two candidates contesting for the post of Thromde Ngotshab of Phaling town. The town has 63 registered eligible voters.
