Three more colleges has joined the list of accredited institutes in the country. Sherubtse College, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) and College of Science and Technology (CST) were awarded certificates of accreditation by the education ministry yesterday.
This takes the total number of accredited institutes to nine.
Accreditation or certification of institutes is mandatory as per the accreditation manual 2014. After being evaluated on six standards, the colleges are awarded grades.
The purpose of the accreditation process is to ensure the institutes maintain quality of education. It is also to help them assess their own performances and identify ways for improvement.
The ministry hopes to finish accrediting the remaining three tertiary level institutes by June this year.
