Haa Imtrat mela attracts thousands

Thousands of People from Haa and other dzongkhags gathered to be part of the IMTRAT Raising Day. His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck graced the opening of the fair yesterday.

Unlike in the past, the two-day affair, popularly known as Haa Mela, this time featured local games, such as Kesshed or wrestling competition among the six gewogs in Haa, khuru, archery and degor completions.

As usual, the spectators got to watch daredevil stunts and cultural performances including folk songs and dances.

The highlights of the fair, among many, were sky diving display and ancient martial arts display. Food and other stalls selling a wide variety of goods were among the attractions at the fair.

The annual IMTRAT Mela, which ended today, is organized to strengthen the Bhutan-India friendship.
