OAG charge CNR’s Store In-Charge with forgery

Punakha District Court

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has charged the Store In-charge of the College of Natural Resources (CNR) in Lobesa with forgery. The miscellaneous hearing for the case was held at the Punakha District Court on Monday.

The 31-year-old Store In-charge is accused of submitting fake degree and school certificates when applying for the post of an Administrative Officer with the same college announced by the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) earlier this year.

The accused submitted the documents along with the job application on May 29. The RUB, while verifying the certificates, was able to spot the fake certificates and then reported the matter to Punakha police on July 17.

The OAG said the accused has verbally disclosed that he made the fake degree certificate in Cooch Behar in the Indian State of Bengal. The fake certificate states that he graduated with BBA from Bangalore University in India in 2017 with 81 per cent.

The class 10 certificate that he submitted is also thought to be forged. The aggregate score shown on the certificate is 69.6 per cent.  But the OAG was able to obtain his original mark sheets and certificate for class 10 and found out that the actual mark he scored is 57.6 per cent.

The class 12 certificate he submitted shows an aggregate mark of 78.6 per cent. The OAG has not been able to get hold of the original mark sheets for class 12. But the prosecutors believe it to be not genuine as well.

The accused has been suspended from his job.
