We are here for the three points: Maldives Head Coach

Mind games have already begun as Changlimithang stadium prepares to host the Maldives, in what is a crucial match for both the teams.

At the pre-match press conference today, the Head Coach of the Maldivian team said, “We are definitely going for the three points tomorrow”. The statement was made when the local media quizzed him about the expectations from tomorrow’s match. He also pointed out that the team will try to avoid close encounters like in the past.

The Maldivian national team arrived in the country on Sunday and did a short practice session on the same day.

The mood in the Maldivian camp looked quite ecstatic as they prepare to re-launch their qualifying campaign after 3-0 loss at home to Palestine in their opening match.

Despite the loss, the Head Coach was all praise about their performance.

“I was very pleased with the performance. The result wasn’t good but given the fitness level being not so good, I am very happy,” he added.   

Meanwhile in the Bhutanese camp, Head Coach, Frank Spittler bemoaned the Oman result which has put the national side in difficult situation.

He said, “The Maldives is a team that is playing at our level. It’s an open game as it was last October against Bangladesh where we did very well.”

Bhutan’s Head Coach added that there is a feel of good factor within the team and they are better prepared for this match.

Team captain, Karma Shedrup Tshering pointed out that the Bhutanese players will deliver come match day tomorrow and the match is a good opportunity to repay the fans for their support.

Despite both teams wanting to avoid close encounters, given recent results, Changlimithang may well witness some nail-biting moments between the two tiny nations, tomorrow.
