The deadline for postal ballot application for the local government elections is September 3.

Election Commission of Bhutan said of the 85,000 voters registered, only 21,000 have applied for postal ballot for the upcoming elections.

ECB’s Spokesperson, Ugyen said the ones opting to vote through postal ballot should write a separate application to the returning officers stating their address and other details once they have registered.

“Otherwise, there is no way the returning officers can send the postal ballot to the applicants. They wouldn’t know whom to send the postal ballot to.”

He also said if the application reaches the returning officer after September 3, it will not be accepted.
