The Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) wants to withdraw the case against Dasho Paljor J Dorji, popularly known as Dasho Benji. The Opposition Party’s reasoning to the court was that the case had led to varied discussions among the people and was creating a divisive society. This, they said, was setting a wrong precedence as it was giving opportunity to the disgruntled people to create misunderstanding in the society.
However, Dasho Benji’s legal representative said since Dasho was harassed by the Party all this while, he might not agree to what has been put forward in the court.
In its rebuttal statement today, the DPT also dismissed news articles on Trowa Theatre and the education city issues. The Party also submitted that the video clip of ENERTIA’s news article were unauthenticated, distorted and manipulated. The video shows a professor of ENERTIA, an Indian based magazine, alleging the former government of corrupt practices in hydropower projects.
In September last year, the DPT filed a libel lawsuit against Dasho Benji accusing him of posting a defamatory statement against the party on Facebook.
