Indo-Bhutan car rally arrives in Thimphu

CarRally-ThimphuThe fifth Indo-Bhutan car rally arrived in Thimphu, this afternoon. The rally, which is conducted after every two years, was flagged off from Siliguri in West Bengal of India.

Twenty seven cars, including one woman team and 18 rally competitors covered a distance of 870 KM. From Siliguri, they went to Gangtok in Sikkim and to Phuentsholing and finally Thimphu.

Unlike previous rallies, this one does not have Bhutanese participants.

The Indo-Bhutan Friendship Association conducts the event in recognition of strong bond between Bhutan and India. It first began in 2007.

The winner of the rally will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.100,000 along with a trophy.

The next, sixth Indo-Bhutan car rally, will flag of from Gangtok, Sikkim.

The rally was organised by Indo- Bhutan Friendship Association.
