OAG reviews Lhakhang Karpo construction case

LhakhangKarp-HaaThe Office of Attorney General (OAG) will decide if those involved in the alleged corruption case of the Lhakhang Karpo construction in Haa would be prosecuted. The case was forwarded by the Anti-Corruption Commission to the OAG, last week.

The two-year investigation by ACC had found out that the contract for sawing timber was awarded unilaterally by the former Haa Dzongda, who is now the foreign minister to a sawmill contractor.

The investigation also revealed that the construction materials were siphoned from the site. The register, which keeps a tab of labourers’ payment, was also found to be tampered with. Also, the materials used for construction was found to be of low quality, according to ACC’s investigation.

The Attorney General said he cannot comment when the review work would be completed.
